Postnatal doula

Care for you, so you can care for your baby

I really believe in that saying about putting your own mask on first, so you can take care of your children.

Birth is a physical and mental endurance event, and like any other, it needs recovery. You’ve spent so much time and energy growing a human. Your body needs care and the nutrients it lost along the way, and you need space to reflect on what you’ve been through.

Birth can be beautiful. Birth can be traumatic. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. Either way, I believe recovery and care matter in the fourth trimester, whatever your birth was like.

What I can help with

My special interests are feeding (preparing comforting and nutritious foods for families, as well as supporting infant feeding) and providing emotional support to parents from a trauma-informed lens.

  • Preparing food
  • Infant feeding support
  • Washing reusable nappies
  • Washing baby’s clothes and organising clothes
  • Massage and closing of the bones ceremony
  • Holding baby while you have a shower and take care of yourself
  • Candid photography
  • Providing emotional support and signposting to local supporting services

Questions you might have

No. I am not a medical professional nor do I carry out any activities that a midwife, health visitor or GP may do (performing physical exams or providing medical advice). I come to your home, upon request, to provide non-judgemental emotional support navigating the fourth trimester and postnatal period, and provide assistance around the home.

A minimum of 3 hours. If you purchase a block of hours without having to decide upfront how to use them. We can discuss nearer the time based on when would be most helpful and my availability at the time.

All birth packages include a postnatal session to debrief the birth. The Full Bloom package includes a closing of the bones ceremony.
