Birth and postnatal doula in south east London

“I know I could scale Mount Everest in a raincoat and it wouldn’t come close to how incredible I felt after giving birth to my first child.” Mother Nesty

Hello! I’m Mother Nesty, and I’m here to support you through this season of your life called parenthood.

I’m a birth and postnatal doula of Black British and Caribbean heritage, based in Shooters Hill, south east London. I also teach antenatal courses, including The Nesting Season™ and HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method.

I know first-hand how beautiful, healing, and transformative birth can be when you have the effective tools and support. I also know how overwhelming and uncertain it can feel to embark on this rite of passage without them.

I help expectant parents feel prepared and ready to take ownership of their birth experience, through a mixture of education, coaching, research, and holistic support throughout the journey.

My approach

  • Practical. I’m a realist. I listen, and I offer options in a direct way, making it clear you’re at the centre of every decision. I’m clear and transparent about the boundaries of my practice and my knowledge.
  • Evidence-based. My training and background is in healthcare research. I break down scientific research and medical literature into materials that are easy to understand, and I coach you on how to ask effective questions.
  • Trauma-informed. I create space for you to define a birth and postnatal plan that sets out your boundaries and what effective support looks like. I coach you on asserting your autonomy, and I signpost to support services that sit outside my professional capabilities.
  • Inclusive. I continuously educate myself so my practice is culturally competent and respectful to all. I use gender-expansive language, and I’m always open to feedback. If I’m not the right doula or antenatal educator for you, I’m happy to signpost you to someone who might be.
  • Accessible. I offer a variety of formats, including large print, audio recordings and visual aids, and guidance on how neurodivergent parents can get the support they need from the maternity or perinatal system. I offer virtual and in-person support, and I provide free resources. If you’re facing financial hardship, I’ll signpost to other services.

In the maternity or perinatal system, you may see a different face at each encounter. As your doula, I’m your constant, your unwavering champion and your partner in self-advocacy.
